Cleaning Operative – Job Description 

Location: Shrewsbury SY3Hours: 

  • Monday–Friday: 3.30pm - 5.30pmTotal: 10 hours per weekContract Type: Part-time, Permanent Work Location: On-site (client premises)time, Permanent 

 

Role Overview 

An exciting new vacancy has arisen for a Cleaning Operative to join our team and provide a high quality cleaning service at one of our client sites in Shrewsbury. You will work independently on site, supported by a highly experienced facilities team who will ensure you have everything you need to succeed.

Your role is essential to delivering a first class customer experience and maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Carry out all aspects of general cleaning, including:  

  • Mopping 

  • Vacuuming 

  • Dusting 

  • Cleaning of toilets and washroom facilities 

  • Use cleaning tools, equipment, and machinery safely and as trained 

  • Handle and apply cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH guidelines 

  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and customer service 

  • Ensure all work is completed within the allocated timeframe

Working Pattern & Annual Leave 

  • This is a termtime only position 

  • You will be paid a monthly salary based on 42 working weeks plus 5.6 weeks annual leave 

  • Annual leave cannot be taken during term time and must be taken within school holidays

Experience in cleaning or facilities is helpful but not essential as full training will be provided.

What Cleaning tasks are you familiar with?
Cleaning roles often require working independently. Are you comfortable working alone?
Are you able to provide all right to work documents, i.e. passport, or birth certificate with proof on national insurance number. If none UK passport a share code will be required.
If you are successful, you will be required to provide identity documents to complete a DBS check. Are you able to provide the necessary documentation?
Have you previously worked in a school or similar environment?
Are you comfortable working around children and following safeguarding procedures?
Have you received any training related to safeguarding or working in environments with children/vulnerable adults?
Do you understand what a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is and why it’s required in a school setting?
Are you willing to undergo a DBS check (or equivalent) as this role involves working in a school environment?
Do you have any unspent convictions?
